Statement regarding the municipal council meeting of May 6, 2024

The LSAP submitted a motion to the municipal council addressed to the government for the preservation of the Employment Office antenna in Dudelange. This antenna is responsible for nearly 45,000 residents across 4 municipalities and is particularly important for job seekers. The government is urged to ensure that the principles of territorial planning and decentralized administration, close to citizens, are maintained.

LSAP spokesperson Edy REDING commended the municipal college for acquiring a property in Berchem, rue Meckenheck. The municipality purchased this property of 22 ares at an advantageous price. However, Councilor Reding expressed regret that the municipal accounting does not recognize the municipality’s assets (whether real estate, houses, apartments, forests, or meadows) as capital to demonstrate the municipality’s sound finances.

The LSAP faction welcomes the agreement between the State, the Roeser municipality, and the SNHBM. This agreement sets the framework for collaboration in the planning area of “Hierschterbierg.” Roeser municipality, as an equal partner, retains its planning authority and is also responsible for developing a communication strategy and further citizen participation in this project. The municipal college has thus kept its promise by emphasizing the transparency pledged in this project.

Councilor Yves Damy expressed gratitude to Alderman Angelo Lourenço, the employees of the environmental department, and the external climate consultant of Roeser municipality for their detailed explanations on the annual climate and nature pact report. Councilor Damy also praised the good work of the municipality’s environmental department and the ongoing collaboration.

All aspects of the Climate Pact and Nature Pact are important and necessary to address climate change and biodiversity loss. Nevertheless, raising awareness among citizens about these issues and the measures taken is crucial. The goal is to motivate the municipality’s residents, pique their interest in these topics, and encourage them not only to be aware of the situation but also to actively support and contribute to the projects and decisions within the framework of the Climate Pact and Nature Pact.

Councilor Sandra Carelli expressed her delight that the pilot project of the “pacte communal du vivre-ensemble” has become a definitive municipal project. In today’s world, creating an inclusive and vibrant community is essential, providing a comfortable environment for all residents and workers in our municipality. In this context, Sandra Carelli emphasized that the housing project under construction in Peppingen serves as a good example of intergenerational cohabitation and inclusion.

Statement regarding the municipal council meeting of June 3, 2024

The spokesperson for the Edy REDING group, on behalf of his group, supports the project for the renovation and redesign of the streets in the center of Peppingen. As part of this project, the center’s streets will be divided into 20 or 30 km/h speed zones, as requested in the citizen survey. Some streets will be transformed into one-way streets, and bus stops will be adapted to new regulations. Additionally, existing underground pipelines will be renewed, and the center will receive new modern lighting. The total cost of the project is 10 million euros.

He expressed regret regarding objections from the INPA regarding an additional access point to the “Klouschtergaard” and from the road administration regarding the creation of a 30 km/h speed section on “rue des Ponts.”

The LSAP group supports the alderman’s efforts to find reasonable solutions in collaboration with both state administrations, in the interest of our residents.

Councilor Yves Damy welcomes the “Charter of Diversity” and emphasizes that the municipality of Roeser signing the Charter is an important signal, demonstrating its commitment to equality and diversity. It is commendable that the municipality is among the first six in the country to sign this Charter, and hopefully, this will encourage local businesses to implement it as well.

Councilor Erny Fisch supports the purchase of a forest parcel “in la Grosmoull.” This parcel is located near the forest and close to the area where the municipality conducts an annual tree planting action for newborns. He highlights the foresight of the municipal council in acquiring this extension parcel to continue the tree planting initiative in the future. Increasing the municipality’s current forest area through this purchase is crucial in the context of climate change.

Regarding school organization for the next academic year, Councilor Sandra Carelli is enthusiastic about the various joint activities taking place between the Maison Relais, the CDI, and the school on the Berchem school campus. Ensuring equal opportunities for all children and promoting inclusion for CDI students are essential. She welcomes the planned renovation project for the Krautem school and the collaboration with the MR. Roeser’s schools remain dynamic, and the continuity of the “LéisungsTeam” project, albeit in a new form, is valuable
