Statement on the Municipal Council meeting of 6 November 2023

In view of the fact that "AMPACET", despite a profit of 3.7 million euros in 2022, has canceled the collective collective agreement and that the employees have been on strike against their employer since 27 November 2023, the LSAP parliamentary group submitted a solidarity resolution to the municipal council to stand in solidarity with the employees of AMPACET LUX and their families.

The municipal council thus calls on the management to return to the negotiating table and and calls on the government and the relevant ministries to take measures to bring an end to the social conflict and to initiate negotiations for the renewal of the collective labour agreement.

Councillor Yves Damy welcomes the fact that the contract with "SWIO" will provide additional charging stations for electric and hybrid vehicles will be installed at a number of locations in the municipality of Roeser, creating a coherent network.

Councillor Sandra Carelli is delighted with the partnership agreement between the municipality of Roeser and the "Fondation Cancer Luxembourg". With this partnership, which is part of the national "tobacco-free generation" strategy in Luxembourg, the municipality of Roeser is committed to the right of children and young people to grow up smoke-free and takes responsibility not only for protecting the health of its inhabitants, but also for protecting the environment.

Councillor Edy Reding supports the contract between the municipality of Roeser and the "Youth & Work'' association. This collaboration offers guidance, individual counselling and help in the search for training or employment and young adults who, due to their state of health, their personal, social or economic situation, are in a precarious situation. At the end of the coaching programme the young adult should be able to enjoy a job or training and thus lead an independent and responsible life.

Councillor Erny Fisch was pleased that a grant had been awarded to organisations working in the field of national and international humanitarian organisations. He also welcomes the fact that the College of Aldermen has approved the scheme for awarding special grants on the occasion of certain anniversaries of associations.

Statement on the Municipal Council meeting of 18 December 2023

Right at the beginning of the municipal council meeting, forester Georges D'Orazio, accompanied by a staff member, presented the nature and forest culture plan for the coming year and Mayor Tom Jungen thanked him and his staff for their excellent cooperation.

The forester's presentation and the current figures from the ANF show us that our forests

are in a steadily deteriorating condition due to climate change. In addition to producing oxygen and binding CO2, forests are also an important habitat for our animals and plants. LSAP Councillor Yves Damy asked the forester how his administration intended to make our forests more resilient to climate change in the future, and achieve the objectives of the Nature Pact. Only a healthy forest has a survival function for all living creatures, and therefore, the precious work of the forester and his staff is very valuable.

The purchase of a business premises with a garage and 5 parking spaces in Berchem

Group spokesman Edy Reding gave The College of Alderman the full backing of the LSAP Group.

This is a further step towards preserving local trade. The price of this purchase is absolutely correct and justified. Another promise from the LSAP election programme has thus been kept.

The LSAP parliamentary group voted in favour of allocating the grant to the associations.

Group spokesperson Edy Reding asked The College of Alderman whether an increase in points to the associations would be possible for 2024, as The College of Alderman once stated that the points value increase would be every three years, depending on the financial situation.

Statement on the Municipal Council meeting of 21 December 2023

At the municipal council meeting on 21 December 2023, the LSAP parliamentary group consisting of Mayor Tom Jungen, Aldermen Bettina Ballmann and Angelo Lourenço, group spokesperson Edy Reding and the councillors Erny Fisch, Yves Damy and Sandra Carelli (deputised by Councillor Edy Reding) unanimously approved the budget proposal for 2024.

We are living in financially and economically difficult times, which does not make multi-year financial planning any easier, because we have been going from one crisis to another for years. After the pandemic came Russia's brutal attack on Ukraine and the resulting energy crisis, supply bottlenecks, explosion of various prices, etc.

Despite these difficult conditions, the municipality will complete all ongoing projects from the previous coalition period. In addition to personnel costs, the LSAP majority must also be applied to the expenditure of the municipal syndicates, as these investments will have a major impact on the municipal budget in the future. This year's budget is a transitional budget, a cautious budget proposal that is designed for the future, with an intelligent investment policy.

Some of the main investments in the 2024 budget are

- Housing project in the centre of Peppange "bei der aler Schoul"

- Multiple projects in the sewerage area "rue des sacrifiés and Grand-rue" in Roeser

- Completion of the clubhouse

- Modernisation of public lighting

- Housing construction in the Grand-rue in Roeser

- Photovoltaic installations

The budget for 2024 thus defines clear priorities and sets the tone for tackling the crisis in the housing, climate and energy crises, but without shelving or neglecting the necessary infrastructure projects. Despite somewhat difficult conditions, we are working consistently, realistically responsible and future-orientated investments in important areas in order to improve the quality of life of our citizens.

Finally, the LSAP parliamentary group would like to wish all Roeserbänner(innen) the best of luck for 2024 and wish everyone good health.

Further details on the 2024 budget proposal can be found in the LSAP's new "Roude Fuedem", which will be in your letterboxes in mid-January and will be available at www.lsap-réiserbann.lu.
