Citizen-oriented municipal services
- A “citizen’s center” was set up on the ground floor of the town hall and various municipal services (registry office, population office) were thus brought together in one central place.
- The digitalisation of the entire municipal administration was accelerated, making it easier for citizens to carry out various administrative procedures from their homes without having to visit the town hall.
- Additional efforts have been made to involve citizens in municipal activities, more specifically in the context of the climate pact, the nature pact and the pact for harmonious coexistence (“Pakt vum Zesummeliewen”). Active citizen involvement has also been a guiding principle when it comes to the implementation of projects that are relevant to the municipality as a whole, or a specific village or a district. Citizens’ forums as well as information and discussion rounds on specific topics have been offered on a broad basis.
- In addition, an “app” was developed for the various mobile phone types, which takes the most important information from the municipal administration’s websites and can also send push-up messages in various categories.
Budget and finance
- This year, a first pilot project for a participatory budget was launched. More specifically, this means that a certain sum of money in the municipal budget is set aside to finance a range of proposals made by citizens themselves, which are subsequently implemented in the budget.
- In this legislative period, almost 100 million euros have been invested in the infrastructure and thus also in the quality of life of the citizens of our municipality.
Industry, crafts and trade
- To ensure the long-term stability of municipal finances, a range of additional businesses with a promising outlook have been attracted to settle in the existing business parks, thus creating additional jobs in the municipality. Particular attention was paid to the “Luxite Park” in Kockelscheuer, where a partnership was concluded with the owners of the “Poudrerie de Luxembourg” plot, as well as with the Ministry of Economic Affairs. However, whenever new businesses are allowed to set foot, particular care is taken to make sure that they do not have a negative impact on the quality of life of local residents.
