- By the end of the legislative period, a large part of the municipal streets will be equipped with energy-efficient and insect-friendly LED lighting.
- With the commissioning of the wood chip heating plant on the Berchem school campus and the planning of a similar installation as part of the “bei der aler Schoul” project in Peppange, a biomass yard for drying wood chips was built on the plot of the former Roeser municipal dumpsite.
- We have also achieved great progress in promoting renewable energy. Most municipal facilities are now equipped with solar panels, some of which are currently under construction, whilst others are still being planned. The first wind turbine in Peppange is currently under construction and will be connected to the grid by July. A new database listing land and properties suitable for the setting up of solar panels allows every citizen to determine at the click of a button whether his or her property may qualify. The energy crisis triggered by the Russian war in Ukraine has given a new impetus to the use of solar energy. Thanks in part to attractive financial support from the state and new support from the municipality, the number of applications for permits has risen sharply in recent weeks and months.
- In the field of electromobility, the municipality has purchased additional vehicles in recent years, but has also acquired electric bicycles for some municipal services. This year, the first cargo bike will be delivered. As far as the charging infrastructure is concerned, the tender procedure to set up further charging stations in all villages is currently being prepared.
- To encourage citizens to switch to renewable energy, additional subsidies were created by the municipality.
