- With the entry into force of the new General Development Plan (GDP) for the municipality of Roeser and the related Partial Development plans for “existing districts” (PAP-QE), the long-awaited implementation phase has begun. Moderate growth, protection of existing buildings and farms that are worth preserving, and a better mix of building types (single-family and semi-detached houses, two-family houses and multi-family buildings) are the underlying guidelines of the new building regulations. The construction of large apartment buildings with more than 4 or 6 flats has been strongly limited.
- Greater emphasis has been placed on the construction and purchase of affordable housing. The offer of so-called social housing has been developed. This has resulted in the completion of two social housing units in Roeser, the creation of new flats in the former parish rectory in Peppange and the purchase of three flats in the “Solarix” residential complex in Roeser. The “bei der aaler Schoul” development in Peppange, an innovative intergenerational housing project, is currently under construction.
- The following streets have been completely upgraded:
• rue des Fleurs in Roeser
• rue de la Montée in Berchem
• rue du Chemin de Fer in Berchem.
As usual, local residents were closely involved in the planning.
- The long-running project aiming to connect our municipality to the Peppange wastewater treatment plant was completed with the final connection of Bivange. At the same time, the pumping stations in Livange and Berchem were renovated and the early work on the gradual implementation of a system for separating rainwater and wastewater has begun. This will avoid unnecessary processing of rainwater at the wastewater treatment plant, which will not only optimise its functioning but also provide better protection against flooding.
